Comments: This was probably written during the early years in St. Louis when Joplin and Hayden lived together (circa 1901). Hayden was born in 1882 in Sedalia, Missouri. The last 12 years of his life were spent as an elevator operator in Chicago at the Cook County Hospital where sadly he died of pulmonary tuberculosis in 1915.
